Thursday night’s match-up between Signal Mountain and Silverdale was a tight one, with neither team taking much of a lead at any point in the game, before the Eagles took the homecourt win by a slim 60-57 margin. As the regular season is nearing a conclusion, both teams seemed to be hitting their stride, and the game was a physical one for all four quarters.
Both teams were hot from long-range, with each hitting 10 shots from beyond the arc. The Eagles' Max Rackel nailed five three-pointers, with Chris Kennedy adding another four to lead the long ball barrage.
Halfway through the fourth quarter, Silverdale sophomore Briggs Hoewischer hit a three-point shot which tied the game 51-51. Both sides traded threes and then the Eagles scored twice earning a five-point lead over the Seahawks.
Silverdale’s Luke Keith scored another three-pointer to put Signal ahead by only two points, but then a foul by SBA gave Signal Mountain’s JB Zimmerman a chance to up the Eagles’ lead by another point. With just 25 seconds left on the clock, the Eagles’ defense kept the Seahawks from scoring again, ending the game with Signal Mountain on top with 60 points over Silverdale’s 57.
Signal Mountain’s Chris Kennedy and Silverdale’s Parker Holland led their teams in points, each scoring 21 points for the night.
SILVERDALE GIRLS 63, SIGNAL MOUNTAIN 31: Kinsley Owen led the Lady Seahawks' win with a game-high 26 points, as teammate Braylee Raby added 12. Tess Roberson led Signal Mountain with 10 points.
