Robert E. Johnson, 91, left this earthly life on February 3, 2025, to join his wife Barbara June Johnson, son Gary Steven Sewell, and beautiful granddaughter, Natausha Marie Sewell for another life of love and eternal happiness.
Bob was born on Sept. 4, 1933, and attended City High School. He was a member of Cameron Hill Baptist Church and was a veteran of the 82nd Airborne. Bob retired after 30 years of service from South Central Bell.

He was a natural athlete and excelled in golf and fast pitch soft ball. He was inducted into the Chattanooga Soft Pitch Hall of Fame in 2010. Bob served as mayor of East Ridge and chairman of the Board of Erlanger Hospital.

He leaves behind his beloved grandson, Robert Steven Sewell, his brother, James Allen, and his sister, Lou Shipley, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bob was a kind and giving person and will be missed by many friends.

He considered his greatest achievement in life was the pleasure of raising his grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, Tn.
