Dale Loren Brewster
Dale Loren Brewster, 86, of Springfield, TN, passed away March 1, 2025, at his home, surrounded by family.
Born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada, on July 11, 1938, he grew up in Eastport, ME, and New Orleans, LA, the only son of Sherman and Elizabeth (Haley) Brewster.
A Navy veteran who served aboard the destroyer USS Goodrich DD-831, Dale served during the early 1960s, between stints as a student at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, where he earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He would often talk about his military service and travels, including his ship’s deployment along with the 6th Fleet in October 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. His career took him to Alabama and eventually to Hixson, TN, where he worked for Wheland Foundry for the remainder of his career.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Carol Lynn (Randall) Brewster, and sister Ann Garrett.
He is survived by his son John Brewster (Gincy) of Knoxville, TN; and daughter Jennifer Howell (Brett) of Springfield, TN. He was PawPaw to six grandchildren, Kile Brewster (Hayley), Max Brewster, Katie Shoup Simpkins (Ricky), Amanda Caldwell (Caleb), Lindsay Howell (Bradley), and Kathryn Howell; and great-grandson Monroe Simpkins.
The family will receive friends at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home from 11:30 am.–1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Burial will follow, with a 2 p.m. service at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Deacon Brian Gabor will be officiating the service.
