Robertine “Bit” Roberts Sokohl
Robertine “Bit” Roberts Sokohl, 98, passed away on March 28, 2025, after enjoying a most fulfilling and rewarding life.
A longtime Chattanooga native, Bit went to GPS, then attended University of Chattanooga for two years. She transferred to the University of North Carolina where she met her future husband, Jack Sokohl. After 64 years of marriage, Jack passed away in Richmond, Va., where they had lived since 1973.
Always the life of the party, Bit knew no strangers. As only children, Jack and Bit both wanted a bigger family, and they got their wish. Their family grew to four children: Jack Sokohl (Dana), Ray Sokohl (Donna Byrd), Joe Sokohl, and Robertine Manno (Dave), and grandchildren, John Sokohl (Katie), Chris Sokohl (Mishka Campbell), and Alex Sokohl (Meg); Steven Sokohl and Joe Sokohl; and Emily Manno (Vince DeStefano), Ally Manno, and Laura Manno; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to raising children, she also wrote training film strips, and she worked at the UTC placement office. After the move to Virginia, she worked to recruit for Fortune 100 companies.
She spent her last three years back in her hometown, living with new friends at Morning Pointe assisted living in Hixson. She will be missed by family and friends alike.
