Scott Chase Celebrates 40 Years On KZ106 With Charity Golf Tournament

  • Friday, April 11, 2025
Cumulus Media’s KZ106 announces a milestone that few in the radio industry achieve: Scott Chase, a beloved voice and icon of Chattanooga radio, is celebrating 40 years on-air. KZ106 will mark the occasion by hosting the “Scott Chase Scramble” charity golf tournament on May 19 at the Ooltewah Golf Club in Ooltewah.

The “Scott Chase Scramble” offers fans, friends and listeners an unforgettable day on the greens, with a top-tier golf experience at the exclusive Ooltewah Club while celebrating Scott’s passion for Rock & Roll and golf.
The day’s festivities start at 11 a.m. and include lunch, snacks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, a KZ swag bag, prizes, fun KZ-centric activities, and opportunities to win at every hole.

Proceeds from the “Scott Chase Scramble” will benefit the Forgotten Child Fund, which provides Christmas cheer to needy families on Christmas Eve, and distributes thousands of coats, toboggans and gloves to area children.

Presented by 5090 South The Furniture Store, the four-man scramble will feature a hole-in-one competition, closest to the pin and longest drive competitions. Hole-in-one sponsor Kia of Chattanooga and Cleveland will award the winner of the hole-in-one challenge with a new KIA K5.

Event sponsors include Shull Development, Waterdogz, Diesel Plus, Hixson Transmission, Elliot’s Boots, Drive Vision, Certapro, and ProRoof.

Officials said, "Since joining KZ106 in 1985, Scott Chase has been a steady presence on the airwaves, bringing the best in classic rock, engaging stories, and unforgettable moments to generations of listeners. His dedication to the craft, deep knowledge of music, and authentic connection with the community have made him a cornerstone of Chattanooga’s cultural landscape.

"Chase began his radio journey with a passion for music and undeniable charisma behind the microphone. Over the past four decades in Chattanooga, he has interviewed legendary artists, hosted countless events, and curated playlists that have defined the classic rock experience for the station’s loyal audience. From Led Zeppelin to Fleetwood Mac, Scott’s voice has been synonymous with the soundtrack of Chattanooga’s rock & roll history."

John Lewis, regional vice president/market manager of KZ106 and Cumulus Chattanooga/Huntsville, said: "Scott Chase is more than a DJ; he’s a legend in Chattanooga and a cherished member of the KZ106 family. For 40 years, he’s been the voice that brings us together and reminds us why classic rock stands the test of time."

"Chase has long been a passionate advocate for local causes, lending his voice and support to charities, community events, and initiatives that enrich the Chattanooga area," officials said. "His dedication to giving back is as enduring as his love for classic rock."

Mr. Chase said, “We have this FCC license to serve our community. Whether I am on-air, on stage or at a remote broadcast, it’s an honor to celebrate this community.”

He added, “Here’s to 40 years of Rock & Roll memories— and to many more to come. I look forward to celebrating with our listeners at this very special event on May 19.”
