Robert William Holcomb
Robert William Holcomb was born on July 19, 1936, in Ringgold, Georgia, to Myrtle and John Holcomb.
He was a proud childhood member of Boynton Baptist Church, where Bob and his deceased beloved, Helen Holcomb, were married. Bob always talked about loving to sing in the Boynton Baptist Choir.
Bob was a proud veteran of the United States Army, in the First Infantry Division, otherwise known as “The Big Red One.”
Bob married the second love of his life, Jan McIntyre Holcomb, on Nov. 24, 2006, where they were proud members of St. John United Methodist Church in Chattanooga. Bob continued to enjoy singing in the St. John Chancel Choir until about four years ago.
Bob was the proud father of Pam Holcomb Legges (Gary), Lisa Holcomb Miller (Johnny) and Todd Holcomb (deceased), and grandfather of Megan, Chelsea, Christopher, Matthew & Candice, and great-grandfather of four grandsons and two granddaughters.
Bob also was a proud Step-father of Ray McIntyre (Jen McIntyre), Papa (grandfather) of Ray II, Wes and Cam and great-grandfather to Baker.
Bob LOVED traveling. He traveled for both work and fun. It could be said that Bob had the full map of the United States imprinted on his heart and mind. Over his lifetime, Bob had been in all 50 states, driving to all of the Continental states, either in a Greyhound bus, in a commercial delivery van, or in his own personal vehicles. Bob and Jan made it a point to hit the road for a few major road trips a year, especially enjoying their annual adventure to Avanel, California, Jan’s home-town. Bob Holcomb traveled over a million miles over the years. Another passion of Bob’s was the Georgia Bulldogs. He loved to give his Tennessee family a hard time, all in good fun!
Bob loved his siblings: Anne, who passed several years ago, and his on-the-go 90-year-old brother (Texas), Lamar.
Most of all, Bob loved Jesus! In just about every conversation he had, with friends and strangers alike, Bob would find some way to talk about Jesus…or sing about Him.
