Dayton City School has been named a 2024-2025 Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase School, a designation awarded to campuses that "demonstrate excellence in building a culture where students feel safe, connected and engaged."
Officials said, "The Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools Award recognizes schools that go above and beyond in creating an environment where students thrive both academically and emotionally. Through the Capturing Kids’ Hearts Process, educators at Dayton City School have been equipped with relationship-building tools and strategies that foster student success and a positive campus culture."
“This recognition reflects the intentional work of our faculty and staff to build meaningful relationships with students every day,” said Trish Newsom, director of Schools.
“We believe that when students feel valued and connected, they are more likely to succeed in the classroom and beyond.”

"Each year, Capturing Kids’ Hearts honors schools across the country for their commitment to transforming campus environments through a relational approach to education. Schools receiving this designation demonstrate measurable growth in student connectedness, academic achievement, and overall school culture."
