The Don Eaves Heritage House will presents "Purely Hawksian," the classic films of Howard Hawks, throughout May.

Scheduled are:

A comedy on May 8: A harried paleontologist has to make a good impression on a society matron who is considering donating one million dollars to his museum. On the day before his wedding, though, the professor meets the matron's high-spirited young niece, a madcap adventuress who immediately falls for the straitlaced scientist. The ever-growing chaos -- including a missing dinosaur bone and a pet leopard -- threatens to swallow the scientist whole.

A western on May 15: A headstrong cowboy starts a thriving Texas cattle ranch with the help of his faithful trail hand and his protégé - an orphan he took under his wing when he was a boy.
In need of money following the Civil War, the two then lead a cattle drive to Missouri, where they will get a better price than locally, but the crotchety older man and his willful young partner begin to butt heads on the exhausting journey.

An adventure on May 22: At a remote South American trading port, the manager of an air-freight company is compelled to risk the lives of his pilots in order to win an important contract as a traveling American showgirl stops in town.

A biography/drama on May 29: In the mold of the great Howard Hawks film, this is the story of an American automotive designer and a fearless British race car driver who battle corporate interference, the laws of physics and their own personal demons to build a revolutionary vehicle for the Ford Motor Company. Together, they plan to compete against the race cars of Ferrari at the famed ‘24 Hours of Le Mans’ in France in 1966.

Doors open at 6 p.m. each night, with a showtime of 6:45p.m. A lively Q&A will follow each screening.

Admission is free.

"Please note our screening license does not allow us to reveal titles, etc. For a fully-detailed schedule of all of Heritage House's upcoming films through November, just drop an email to HeritageHouse@Chattanooga.gov and specify 'film schedule' in the subject line. Thank you," officials said.
