John Westley Wilson
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of John Westley Wilson. He died April 3, 2025.
John was born on October 23, 1957, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Jo Douglas Wilson, and Paul W. Wilson, and his first wife, Cheryl Ford Wilson.
John grew up in Lookout Valley and is a 1975 graduate of Lookout Valley High School. He also attended Chattanooga State.
John started Wilson Dental Supply, which he later sold to Patterson Dental Equipment. He had a career in sales and advertising with a host of companies: American National Insurance, Nashville Dental, the Chattanooga Times Free Press, and The Papers Inc. His outgoing, friendly personality was an asset.
John enjoyed boating, music, tennis, and the Tennessee Vols. His passion for music led him to become a self-taught guitarist helping to form several bands: Crossroads, Alethea, and Delorean. They performed at Riverbend and other venues.
John is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Overton LeBatard; sisters, Polly Overton, Dianne (Bill) Abney, and Kathy Gossett; sister-in-law, Linda Jolley; brother-in-law, John Gibson; many nieces and nephews, as well as great and great, great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday April 8, 2025. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the North Chapel. Interment will follow funeral services in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
