Mary Alice Farmer Lynn
Mary Alice Farmer Lynn was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Jeanne Phifer Farmer and Joseph Patrick Farmer on June 22, 1948. Mary Alice was the first of four children so was the built-in babysitter. Even as children, her siblings respected her orderly ways and loved her infectious laugh. She made life fun for everyone.
Mary Alice graduated from Notre Dame in 1966. She was a very talented classical pianist after having had instruction for 10 years. She loved tennis and golf and gardening...but cooking was at the top!
She worked at the health department before becoming employed by TVA. After a time in Chattanooga, she transferred with TVA to the Knoxville offices. There she married Robert Lynn and the two were married for 33 years. They adopted their precious Luba Michelle from Russia in 1997. She was the light of her life, and she retired early to enjoy becoming a mother in all of its glory.
Her happiest days were sharing time with all of her family, sitting by the pool, having cookouts, making salsa and cherry pies. And she was a serious birdwatcher, mostly enjoying the goldfinches, hummingbirds and bluebirds at her feeders. She lived her life honestly and with her whole heart. She lived a life the way god intended, true and faithful.
She leaves behind her mother, Jeanne Farmer of Chattanooga, her husband, Robert Lynn, her daughter, Luba and son-in-law, Taylor Groce of Harrison, their two boys, Niklaus and Aiden, ages 7 and 1 month old, her brother, Richard P. Farmer (deceased) and wife Trudy of Blackwell, Ok., her younger brother, James Matthew Farmer of Ringgold, her sister, Sally Farmer Rossmann and her husband paul of Charleston, her niece, Lake Browne and son, Iden of Asheville, N.C.
She will be missed beyond measure. Goodbye, love.
A mass will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 1041 North Central Street, Knoxville, followed by a graveside service at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on E. Governor John Sevier Highway, Knoxville.
