Nationally renowned artist Alan Shuptrine has been awarded by the National Watercolor Society.
Mr. Shuptrine’s painting, Canvasback, has been selected for 2025 National Watercolor Society Member Exhibition. The painting features an image of a canvasback wooden duck decoy, displayed in a weathered windowsill with an image of the American flag prevalent in the background.
The piece was selected as one of three finalists and was honored with the Ken Goldman Award. Mr. Goldman is a past president of the National Watercolor Society, serving from 2015-2017.
Mr. Goldman is an internationally known artist, author, teacher and art juror, and is prevalent name in the fine arts community.
Mr. Shuptrine’s works can be found in numerous private collections, museums, historical institutions, corporate offices and many collections nationwide. He is currently preparing for his upcoming Artist in Residency at Scotland’s historical Skibo Castle in Dornoch this August. His residency will feature an exhibition of his works in the castle’s gallery, as well as a series of watercolor workshops and demonstrations. He will also gather inspiration as he prepares for his new collection of paintings which will serve as the follow-up to his award-winning fine art book, "I Come From A Place."
