Dexter Timothy “Tim” West
Dexter Timothy “Tim” West, 75, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on April 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Tim was a faithful member of Grace Pointe Assembly of God. He dedicated his life to serving others, both in his professional and personal life. He retired from the Chattanooga Fire Department, where he proudly served as a firefighter, and also worked as an emergency medical technician at Memorial Hospital. Tim was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Vietnam conflict. In his later years, he continued his commitment to service by working as an usher for the Chattanooga Lookouts and UTC basketball.
Tim will be remembered for his warm heart, generous spirit, and love of cooking. He especially cherished time spent with his family and had a fondness for war movies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph William West and Mabel Olavene Tate West, and his brother, Philip West.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Debi West; his son, Jason (Loren) West; daughter, Jennifer (Mike) Booth; brother, Joe (Nancy) West; six grandchildren; Belen, Matias, Nicolas, Benjamin, Chase and Gavin and several cherished nieces and nephews.
The family extends special thanks to caregiver Dolencia and the dedicated staff and physicians of Hearth Hospice for their compassionate care.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, at Grace Pointe Assembly of God. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11:30 a.m. at the church.
