Herman Eugene "Gene" Casey, born November 9, 1934, was welcomed into the presence of our Lord and Savior on May 7, 2025.

He was predeceased by his wife: Neva Jo Reno Casey, parents: Roy Casey and Marie Casey Johnson, and Brothers: Jim Casey and Douglas Casey.

He is survived by his children: Kevin (Wanda) Casey, Ken (Susan) Casey, Kirk (Tina) Casey and Karen (Mike) Mallett, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters: Helen (Bud) Davis and Mary Quigley.

Gene served his country in the U.S. Army and National Guard. While interning with Combustion Engineering, Gene graduated from Southern Technical Institute with an Associate in Science in Mechanical Technology in 1956. Gene started his career in the aerospace industry working in Tullahoma, Dallas, and Salt Lake City. Returning to Chattanooga and after thirty-plus years, He retired from Combustion Engineering (ABB) as a Quality Inspector. Gene excelled in his job as team member, team lead, and “chief navigator.” Place Gene in any city, state or even country, and he can get you to where you need to go. He instilled a strong work ethic in his children along with the tools to navigate!

Gene loved his family to the extreme! He showed patience with every generation – from his children to his great-grandchildren – teaching us everyday skills, attending every event that he could and not to mention game nights. He was the silent competitor. Fun in family games – skillful card shark – no one wanted to sit to the left of him!

But the greatest gift he gave us was his example of serving and depending on our Lord and Savior. In ALL things, he glorified God and wanted everyone to know that God was the One who provided, gave strength, showed mercy and grace, and brought joy and peace.

Gene was a servant at heart and loved serving the Lord. He enjoyed letting his wife and children share the spotlight as he encouraged from the sidelines. He served his Silverdale Baptist church family for many years as Deacon, missions’ participant, and lately – coffee service. He welcomed his tasks with dedication and the people with a smile.

We know that Jesus welcomed him into His presence with open arms and declared, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, at Silverdale Baptist Church Student Ministry Building (SMB), 7216 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37421. A celebration of life will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the SMB with Rev. Kirk Casey and Rev. Wade Casey officiating.

A private graveside service will be held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Rev. Mike Mallett and Rev. Brian Squires officiating.
