Sara Jennings Pool, born on February 9, 1931, in Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, in Bolivia, NC, at the age of 94. A beacon of kindness and faith, Sara lived her life with grace, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.

Sara earned her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Tennessee - Chattanooga, and she went on to inspire countless young minds as a schoolteacher for 13 years. Her passion for education was only rivaled by her devotion to her faith. She was deeply involved in her Baptist church, contributing her talents to the music program, playing piano, singing in the choir, and sharing her love of the gospel through lay evangelism and teaching Sunday School. For a decade, she also served diligently as a pastor's secretary.

Sara raised her family in Chattanooga, before moving to High Point, NC, in 1979. She became an integral part of the Green Street Baptist Church community, where she remained active until moving to Winnabow, NC, in 2014. After relocating, she joined the First Baptist Church of Leland, continuing her lifelong service to others through her church activities.

Preceded in death by her beloved parents, Norman J. and Lillian J. Jennings, and her siblings, Norman D. Jennings, Mary J. Bryan, Evelyn J. Tune, Lillian J. Adwell, Peggy J. Tribble, Glenn J. Roller, and Velda J. Adwell, Sara leaves behind a legacy of love and faith. She is survived by her devoted children, Lee Ann Williamson Mills (Widow) of Winnabow, NC, Mickie Denise Millersmith (Bob) of Phoenix, AZ, Barton Everette Cox of Tellico Plains, TN, David Wayne Pool (Kathy) of Lansing, Il, Millie Lane Wright (John) of Wilmington, NC, Laurie Cox McFall (Mark) of Riegelwood, NC, Brett Alan Pool (Dana) of Elizabethtown, NC; numerous grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, who will continue to carry forward her values and spirit.

A memorial service celebrating Sara’s remarkable life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, at First Baptist Church of Leland, located at 517 Village Road, Leland, NC. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Wilmington Funeral & Cremation - Village Road Chapel, Leland.
