Joy Stokes
Joy E. Stokes, age 87, a lifelong resident of Harrison, departed her earthly home and entered her heavenly home on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
Joy was born to the late Benjamin (Earl) and Elma Mullins Malone. She was a graduate of Birchwood High School where she was captain of the girls basketball team. Joy retired from Hamilton County Schools. She was a long time member of Lakeway Baptist Church.
Joy was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, Jerry, and her brother, Larry Malone.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Marcia (Sparky) Leamon, Christopher (Cynthia) Quinn, and Darlene Stokes, her grandchildren, Taylor (Johnathan) Rue, Corey Quinn, Patrick Quinn, Crystal (Andall) Burke, Heather (Adam) Hickman, and Elizabeth Leamon-Morris, eight great-grandchildren, brother, Benny Malone, several nieces and nephews, and many special friends.
The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Services for Joy will follow at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the North Chapel with Pastor Steve Moore officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
