Garden Club Meets July 14

The Green Thumb Garden Club of Collegedale/Ooltewah will meet Monday, July 14 at 7 p.m. (door opens at 6:45 p.m.) at Chestnut Hall (in the Commons), 4950 Swinyar Drive, Collegedale, Tn. The presenter is Master Gardener Holly Marland, whose topic is "Tennessee Smart Yards." First-time visitors are free. Membership is $15 yearly per person or $25 yearly per couple or family. There will be refreshments and door prizes. more

As you may recall, our Hamilton County Mayor, without input from our elected Hamilton County Commissioners, sold our Hamilton County Health Department’s facilities and the prime real estate it sat upon, to Erlanger for the paltry sum of $10 million. What a deal. No wonder Erlanger could afford to pay $2.5 million per year for the naming rights for the Chattanooga Lookouts’ Erlanger Field. Lookouts Win Series Opener At Barons

Starting pitcher Zach Willeman made the most of his first start with the Chattanooga Lookouts Tuesday night. The 29 year old minor league veteran tossed five scoreless innings while allowing only three hits and striking out two. After Willeman's exit the Dodgers' bullpen was outstanding. Arij Fransen struck out four of the six hitters he faced and allowed no hits or runs. Trevor Kuncl threw a scoreless ninth as he seems to always do, his tenth save on the season.
