Grady Waymon Summers, 72, of East Ridge, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on February 1, 2005.

Mr. Summers preached as a Church of Christ minister for over 47 years, serving churches in Willette, Oneida, Clinton, and Chattanooga, TN; Colora, MD, and Weirton, WV. He preached the last 17 years at the Ridgedale Church of Christ in Chattanooga, TN. He also enjoyed young people and served many years as a camp administrator for Teenage Christian Camp in Karns, TN.

Mr. Summers graduated from Muncie (IN) Central HS, Freed-Hardeman University, and Tennessee Tech University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, reaching the rank of sergeant, and taught high school English in Rising Sun, MD for two years.

He spoke on Bible Lectureships in several states and Freed-Hardeman University and conducted many Gospel meetings. He was also a panelist on the local television program, "Know Your Bible."

Mr. Summers was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Fine Summers and Bertha Shirley Summers, and infant son, Randy Joe.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rosemary Taylor Summers; and three sons, Michael and Tammy Summers, Savannah, GA, Mark and Kelli Summers, Brentwood, TN, and Monte and Anna Summers, Jacksonville, FL; nine grandchildren, Shara, Caleb, Isaiah, TaylorAnn, Hunter, Chase, Samantha, Alexander, and Kendall Summers; foster son, Richard Knight of Huntington, WV and his children, Cameron and Allie; brother, John and Betty Summers; two sisters, Reba Summers Walker and husband, Roy, and Linda Summers Akins, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Ridgedale Church of Christ with Ministers Terry Harnden, Charles Cochran, Jim Lewis, Todd Crayton, and Clifford Reel officiating.

Visitation hours will be at Ridgedale Church of Christ from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. CST on Friday at Mountainview Cemetery in McMinnville, TN. Pallbearers are Caleb and Isaiah Summers, Chase Summers, Scott Walker, John Summers, and David Tongate. Honorary pallbearers are the elders and deacons of the Ridgedale Church of Christ and all attending ministers.

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and florist 404 South Moore Road.
