Madge Jones Trapnell, 80, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, in Chattanooga.
The Candler County, GA, native lived most of her life in Metter, GA, before moving to Hickory Valley Retirement Community in Chattanooga in 2003. She was a member of Metter First Baptist Church, the Naomi Sunday School Class, Order of the Eastern Star and the Metter Garden Club.
A graduate of Georgia State College for Women, she worked at C&S Bank in Atlanta as a stenographer. She served as the secretary of Metter First Baptist Church for many years and as secretary at Hooks Mortuary.
She had a love of flowers and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carson Jones and Patriel Jones Lanier; her husband of 52 years, Robert L. Trapnell Sr.; a sister, Katrina Mills; and a granddaughter, Kim Trapnell.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert L. "Bob" (Marilyn) Trapnell Jr., of Cape Canaveral, FL, and Dwight Kent (Jayne) Trapnell, of Ringgold, GA; sisters, May J. Hooks, of Metter, and Dr. Nancy J. Lanier, of St. Simons Island, GA; and grandchildren, Robert L. "Bo" Trapnell III, of Winter Springs, FL, and Samuel Preston Trapnell, of Ringgold.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, at Morgan Family Funeral Home, Metter.
Burial will be in Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
