Dr. Oscar D. Scruggs, III, died Monday, January 2, 2006 at age 71.
He was the son of the late Idell and Oscar D. Scruggs, Jr.
Dr. Scruggs practiced dentistry for 48 years. He was a graduate of Baylor School and the University of Tennessee Dental School. He was a Mid South Champion from Baylor School under Luke Worsham in 1952.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary M. Scruggs; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Gilbert Roberts; sons and daughters-in-law, Oscar D. Scruggs, IV and Carolyn Scruggs; Will J. and Robin Scruggs; grandchildren, Madison and Alex Roberts; Currant, and Kelly Scruggs; Maggie Scruggs and Chase Frank; brothers, Jack, Tony and Dr. Fenton Scruggs.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the North Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Chattanooga Humane Society, 212 North Highland Park Avenue, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37404.
