Former Rossville High School and University of Tennessee quarterback Bobby Scott will be inducted into the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame on July 27.
The guest speaker for the annual ceremony at the Knoxville Convention Center will be Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.
"I'm really excited,'' Scott said. "It's a nice honor. I'm really looking forward to the induction. This is a really neat honor.''
For 25 years, the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame Dinner has celebrated Knoxville sports with some of Knoxville's finest.
Each year, 10 local individuals are inducted into the Hall of Fame for their achievements in athletics, coaching, sports administration and officiating.
Other honorees include Knoxville's Most Outstanding Male and Female High School Athlete of the Year, the Professional Athelete of the Year and the "Thanks for the Memories" and Special Recognition recipients.
Scott, age 56, played football, baseball and basketball at Rossville from 1964-67. He was chosen All-City in each sport. The Bulldogs won 30-of-33 games while Scott was their quarterback.
Scott's won/loss record at UT was 20-3.
From 1971-82, Scott played with the New Orleans Saints of the NFL. He played for both the New Jersey Generals and the Chicago Blitz during the 1983 USFL season.
Scott retired from professional football and entered the construction business in Chattanooga, Tenn. From 1991 to the present, he has served as a sales reprentative with the Balfour Company.
He is married to Pat Mitchell Scott and father of two children -- Dr. Benson Scott, a resident at Erlanger Hospital, Chattanooga; and Miss Taylor Scott, a student at UT. He has one grandchild, Stratton Scott, son of Benson and Toni Scott.
