Former First Chair Cellist For Chattanooga Symphony

Arian Aplin Snodgrass, 87, of Chattanooga, died on Sunday, July 2, 2006, in a Knoxville hospital.

She was born in Minneapolis, MN, and was raised in Britton and Mitchell, S.D. After graduation from high school, she and her family moved to Chattanooga. She attended the University of Chattanooga and became a member of the Chattanooga Symphony and Orchestra, where she held the position of First Chair Cellist.

She was an avid bridge player and was a member of several bridge clubs. Mrs. Snodgrass was an active member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. She also was a member of First Baptist Church Golden Gateway and the Seekers Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Sarah Sewell Aplin, and was the widow of Howell F. Snodgrass.

She is survived by her children, Sara Barth, of Chattanooga, Arian Mead, of Kennesaw, GA, Hal and Louise Snodgrass, of Knoxville; and grandchildren, Erica Mead, Todd Snodgrass, Justine Barth and Clea Gorthy.

Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, in Chattanooga Memorial Park with Dr. Gary Carver officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
