Donald Oliver Williams, 70, of East Brainerd, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, in a local hospital.
Mr. Williams was a resident of Chattanooga for the past 32 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving for 20 years before retiring in 1974. After his retirement, Mr. Williams worked for Westinghouse retiring in 1996. His career as a nuclear engineer carried him as far as the Antarctic.
He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 14, National Rifle Association and the American Nuclear Society. Mr. Williams was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalie Williams; sons and daughters-in-law, Victor and Elaine Williams, of Chattanooga, Douglas and Jennifer Williams, of Nashville; three granddaughters, Samantha Williams, Brittany Williams and Sydney Williams; brother, Ervin L. Williams, of Mitchell, In.; and sisters, Joyce Byrd, of Tampa, Fl., Martha Jane Herrin, of Illiopolis, Il., and Wanda Sue Bach, of Lawrenceville, Il.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Ben Haden and Dr. Paul Ritch officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
