Grace's Kaylan Dilts Signs With Bryan College

  • Wednesday, October 29, 2008

DAYTON, TN – Beneath the retired jerseys of three former Grace Academy girls basketball players, Kaylan Dilts announced that she was going to attend Bryan College next year.

Dilts, a 6’1” Tennessee Sports Writers Association All-State basketball player will become the fourth Grace player to suit up for Bryan College’s women’s basketball team. Former Golden Eagles Becky Blesch, Sarah Bass and Liz Bass previously earned All-American honors during their collegiate careers with Bryan College.

Dilts averaged more than 18 points and 8 rebounds per game last season for Grace Academy. The Golden Eagles are coached by Les Compton and have won 9 district championships since 1996.

“I can’t say enough about Kaylan”, said Bryan College women’s basketball coach, Jamy Bechler. “I have been following her progress for a number of years. I have gotten to know her, her family and her coaches and teammates through the years and really think she’ll fit in well at Bryan. We expect her to be a major contributor during her time at Bryan. She is so versatile on the basketball floor. She can shoot, rebound and run the floor. Last season, Kaylan was one of five Chattanooga area girls chosen to the All-State team. Three of those girls signed with Division I programs and the fourth is still undecided, though we would like to have her, as well. At Bryan, we have been able to attract top quality all-state players. This is a great school academically, spiritually and athletically. We feel it is a good place for top-level student-athletes. Though as good of a basketball player as Kayla is, even more importantly, is that her character and commitment to her Christian Faith is a priority in her life."

Additionally, Dilts will play volleyball for Leo Sayles at Bryan College. She is expected to contribute immediately for that program as well. Currently, the Lady Lions volleyball program is nationally ranked and tied for first in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

Dilts’ brother, Jonathan, attends Bryan College and she plans on pursuing a degree in Exercise & Health Science.

Bryan College is a non-denominational Christian college located in Dayton, TN. It was founded in 1930 in honor of former U.S. secretary of State, William Jennings Bryan. It competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
