South Pittsburg Middle School Wins 36th Consecutive Game, 4th Consecutive S.V.C Championship

South Pittsburg Academy Middle School recently defeated a previously unbeaten Rhea Central Middle School team 24-0 in the Sequatchie Valley Conference championship game.

South Pittsburg was led in in rushing by Jajuan Lankford who totaled 165 yards rushing on 13 carries with two touchdowns in the game.

Kahlil Mitchell also added a over 50 yards rushing and a touchdown run for South Pittsburg.

South Pittsburg rushed for 245 yards and held Rhea Central to 71 yards rushing. The Pirates were led on defense by McKenna Blevins, Jajuan Lankford, Anthony Sellers and Cooper Lewis.

Jajuan Lankford, Anthony Sellers, Ricky Fehr, Payne Mosley and Kahlil Mitchell took home all conference honors and Lankford was named as the championship game offensive MVP for his efforts.

During the season South Pittsburg defeated Chattanooga Christian, Boyd Buchanan, Sequatchie County, Bridgeport, Jasper, Whitwell, Grundy County, Spring City and Rhea Central middle schools.

South Pittsburg finished the season with a record of 9-0 and outscored its opponents by a combined score of 344 to 62.

The win marked the program's 36th consecutive victory, 4th consecutive Sequatchie Valley Conference championship and 6th overall championship in the past 8 seasons.

South Pittsburg now has a record of 50-1 over the past six seasons and 70-4 over the past nine seasons.
