Michael Whittemore
Michael Allen Whittemore Sr., 66, of Chattanooga died on Sunday, May 24, 2009.
He was a 1961 graduate of Kirkman High School. He served in the United States Army and National Guard. He continued his education at Chattanooga State. He worked as a general contractor. He enjoyed fishing, family, and photography.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Byrd and Iris Louise Fricks Whittemore.
Survivors include his sons, Michael Allen (Kay) Whittemore, Jr., of Chattanooga, William Anthony Tony Whittemore, and Benjamin Corey Whittemore; daughter, Wendy (Ray) Higgins; grandchildren, Alicia and Kelsey Higgins, Michael Allen III and Caisee Whittemore, all of Whitwell, Tn., brothers, Kenneth (Lorraine) Whittemore of Lockhart, Tx.; Eugene (Irene) Whittemore of Northhills, Ca., Bill (Alwayna) Hixson of Soddy-Daisy, Tn., ex-wife and longtime friend, Carolyn Whittemore, of Whitwell, a special nephew, Stephen Hixson, special great-niece, Graicen Hixson; several nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, with a memorial service to follow at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
