June Patrice Winston Outlaw was born on April 4, 1970, to Gus Winston Jr. and Ella Washington Winston in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. She died on Wednesday, March 31, 2010.

Patrice met Michael R. Outlaw on July 16, 1998, at Salem Baptist Church. They were united in holy matrimony on Sept. 3, 2000. God blessed this union with a precious daughter, MiKayla, on Dec. 22, 2006.

Patrice was a dedicated, devoted, and loving wife and mother. As a daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, niece and cousin, Patrice brought much joy and love to our family. She was truly loved and will be greatly missed.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior in December, 1977, at the age of seven. She united and was baptized at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. William H. Ryan Jr.

Upon relocating to Atlanta, she united with Salem Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Jasper Williams Jr.

After returning to Chickamauga, her native home, she attended Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church becoming a member in March, 2004.

Patrice was a 1988 graduate of Rossville High School and was the first African-American valedictorian. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta in 1992. She also studied and became a Certified Medical Transcriptionist in 2001.

Patrice was employed with Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Chattanooga as an analyst programmer.

She is survived by a loving and devoted husband, Michael R. Outlaw; daughter, MiKayla Patrice Outlaw; parents, Gus and Ella Winston; mother-in-law, Amanda (Bill) Johnson, Windsor, N.C.; brother, Henri Lerone (Michele) Winston of Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Rejulia Outlaw, Windsor, N.C.; aunts, Mary McGhee, Los Angeles, Ca., Dolly Stevens, Stevenson, Alabama, Janet, Suette and Mary Washington of Hollywood, Al., Geneva Washington, Rantoul, Il., Gussie Mae Clark and Ardella Foster, both of Chickamauga; uncles, Dr. Herman A. Washington, Portland, Or., Homer (Jo) Washington, Seoul, South Korea; and Robert (Tommie Lee) Winston, Chickamauga; aunts-in-law, Annie (Steven) Smallwood, Sybil (Reverend Anthony) Sutton, Wilson, N.C., Margaret (Lafayette) Bunch, Windsor, N.C., and Beatrice (Jarvis) Williams, Punta Gorda, Fl.; uncles-in-law, James (Linda) Bond, Windsor, N.C., and Joseph (Ruth) Bond, Baltimore, Md.; niece, Tennia Winston of Rossville; nephews, Del Halfacre, Deonte Carter, Jeremy Carter and Ronde’ Johnson; great-nieces, Janiece Randolph and Jaliyah Carter; great-nephews, Jamari Winston, Jayvius Randolph, and Jaden Carter; dear friends, Tammie and Demitrius Daniel, Charlotte Simmons-Foster and Angelina Sims, and a host of cousins, other relatives, friends, and co-workers.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 8, at 2 p.m. at Orchard Knob Baptist Church with Rev. Harold K. Lester officiating. Interment will be in Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park.

The body will lie in state after noon on Wednesday, April 7, with the family receiving friends from 7 – 9 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
