Chickamauga Church Of Christ Elder Killed, Wife Critical After Driver Of Out-Of-Control Vehicle Hits Them

A man was killed and his wife critically injured in a head-on crash in Walker County on Tuesday morning.

The victim was identified as 65-year-old Allan Kellett. He was dead at the scene. Mr. Kellett was a longtime elder at the Chickamauga Church of Christ.

Joy Kellett was in the Intensive Care Unit at Erlanger Hospital.

The couple had been married for 44 years.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. north of LaFayette on Highway 27. It was just north of Reed Road.

The Georgia State Patrol said a vehicle going south driven by Gregory Gillum went out of control and ran off the road. It overcorrected before going into the northbound lane and hitting the other vehicle.

Gillum was treated and released.

The investigation is continuing.
