Bobby Lee Howard, 68, of Middle Valley, Tennessee, died on Monday, November 3, 2014.
He was a devoted husband of 50 years to his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Ann Hartline Howard. He cherished every moment they had together. He was a loving father and Papaw to his grandchildren and great-grandson, the joys of his life were his grandchildren.
Bobby was employed with Dupont Company for 44 years. He was a graduate of Red Bank High School Class 1964, where he was an outstanding athlete. Bobby was a longtime baseball and football coach at Middle Valley Recreation, winning several state and world series titles. Coach Howard mentored hundreds of young men and always tried to live his life to be an example to all.
Bobby loved life and lived it to the fullest, he enjoyed hunting with his sons and grandchildren on the Howard Family Farm, to which he was the fifth generation to own. He cherished watching his sons, daughter, and grandchildren play football, baseball, basketball and cheering.
He loved to travel with his wife and family to Daytona Beach and Wilmington, North Carolina which were his favorite vacation spots. Bobby was a member of Melville Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Clara Frances Howard, a brother, Edward Howard, a sister, Hazel Dye and a nephew, Frank Dye.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife and caretaker, Charlotte Ann Howard; his children, Johnny (Donnell) Howard, David (Wendy) Howard, Misty (Stephen ) Roberts; his grandchildren, Andrew (Shelly) Howard, Michael Howard, Zack Howard, Noah Howard, Allyssa Peters, Brayden Peters, and Sawyer Roberts; his great-grandchild, Camden Lee Howard; his sisters, Patricia Booher and Mildred Jenkins.
Bobby was under Amedysis Hospice Care and the family would like to thank Olivia, Sara, Misty, Bob and Ricky for their continuous loving care and support.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, with Reverend Alan Stewart officiating.
Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and son-in-law; honorary pallbearers will be former baseball and football players he coached and family friends.
