Ellis, Gary (Cleveland)

Gary Ellis, of Cleveland, TN, died on December 14, 2014, surrounded by family and loved ones and at peace with his savior Jesus Christ.

Gary touched the lives of many people in a positive, compassionate manner.  He was a member of Elkmont Baptist Church.  Gary was an accomplished business man, entrepreneur, and drag racer, recognized nationwide for his accomplishments in NHRA and IHRA competition, yet he remained a modest and humble working man. he was a proud Marine Corps veteran.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Berley and Velma Ellis; two sons, Mark and Alan Ellis; and three sisters, Sondra Lea, Brenda Sparks and Linda Ogle.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda; son, Gary II; grandchildren, Brandon, Tanner, Lauren and Brandon; great-granddaughter, Saylor; several nieces and cousins; and many close friends.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital located at 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.

A graveside service is planned for Wednesday, December 17 at 2:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. R.L. Queen, Terry Marr, Matt Dillard, Brandon Ellis, Tanner Ellis, and Bud Holmes will be serving as pallbearers.  Ronnie Harris, Alvin Howard, and Dr. Harrison Sims are serving as honorary pallbearers.

Companion Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
