“If the players like the feel and the look of the uniform then you have hit a home run and I believe we have.”

 – UTC head football coach Russ Huesman concerning the new adidas football uniforms

UTC senior quarterback Jacob Huesman likes the classic look.

Fellow senior Josh Freeman (def. line) likes the tight fit.

Many of the UTC recruits are excited about the new brand and Mocs head football coach Russ Huesman believes, “if the players are excited then we as coaches are excited.”

Tuesday afternoon, the UTC athletic department unveiled the new adidas football uniforms for the 2015 season.

In addition to the new football uniforms, all of the coaches and sideline personnel will also wear

UTC branded adidas gear.

“If the players like the feel and the look of the uniform then you have it a home run and I believe we have,” Huesman stated.

Huesman also pointed out that recruits are interested in the apparel brand the players wear, the school’s athletic facilities and how the coaches and athletic staff treat the players.

White Helmets with Power C: “We have won two Southern Conference championships with white helmets and we will continue to wear white helmets,” said coach Huesman.

Blue Jerseys at Home: Coach Huesman said the team will wear blue jerseys at home and the seniors can decide whether to wear white or blue plants.

Under Shirt: besides the jersey and pants, adidas is also supplying each with a undershirt of synthetic blend to be worn under the shoulder pads with a multi-Chattanooga blue and gold design.

Apparel History: UTC equipment and facilities director Mike Royster said when he was hired in late spring 1974, UTC football was under contract with Spanjen and switched to Russell prior to Bill Oliver’s first season (1980) as head coach.

Royster and Huesman: Royster and coach Huesman are the only two football staff to wear apparel from Spanjen, Russell and now adidas.

Huesman was a freshman in the fall of 1978 and was a junior in 1980 when the school switched to Russell and now the head coach as the football program works with Adidas.

Royster is in his 42nd year with the Mocs.

Jax State and UTC Apparel:

The Mocs first season with Russell was 1980 and the Mocs defeated Jacksonville (Ala.) State, 16-13, in the season opener (Sept.5) under new coach Bill Oliver.

Thirty-five years later, UTC football is in its first season with adidas and opens the 2015 season with Jacksonville (Ala.) State at home Sept. 5.

First Official Practice: Mon. Aug 3 at Scrappy Moore Field, 3 p.m.
