Charles McMath
Charles Edward McMath, Sr., 72, died on Monday, October 31, 2016 at his residence.
He retired from Moccasin Bend Hospital after 37 years of service.
He was long-time member of Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church and a dedicated singer in the Male Chorus. He was also a very active member of the Brotherhood and Greeters Ministries.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Early, Sr. (Derie) Cousin; parents, Willie James McMath and Lourine Cousin Williams; brother, Willie Frank McMath; sisters, Bertha "Papoose" Alford and Betty Ann Thomas.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Janice McMath; son, Charles McMath, Jr. of Nashville; daughters, Yolonda McMath, Cathy (Ronald) Shepherd and Carla McMath, all of Chattanooga; Deshonda (Antonio) Mitchell of Knoxville, and Hope McKinley of Goodlettsville, Tn.; brothers, Denver, Sr. and Oscar McMath of Chattanooga, Jerry (Joan) McMath of South Dakota and Dennis Williams of Chattanooga; sister, Mary Carr of Chattanooga; a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and a dear friend, James Bryant.
The funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, Nov. 4, at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Carlos Williams, officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The body will lie in state after noon on Thursday, Nov. 3, and the family will receive friends from 6–7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
