A leading UTC football defensive back is facing charges that he stole a $1,000 MacBook Air Tablet from a fellow student.

Javaris Drequis "Dee" Virgin is charged with theft over $500.

Virgin has been dismissed from the team.

A female student on April 27 reported the MacBook missing from her apartment at 815 University St.

UTC Police viewed surveillance at Decosimo and saw a black male, later identified as Virgin, as the person entering her room. He was seen removing the MacBook from the room and leaving with it in the front of his pants. He was seen using his hand to help conceal the item.

UTC Police confronted Virgin and he first denied it. He later acknowledged taking the MacBook and retrieved the stolen property.

He is a former All Southern Conference performer.
