Bead Weaving Classes To Be Offered At Heritage House

  • Saturday, July 28, 2018

Heritage House will offer classes, where students can learn a variety of bead weaving techniques while completing six great projects. This is a beginner’s series of seven classes in which students can learn a variety of skills as they create six different projects.

Along the way students will learn about supplies, and lots of additional resources to find designs and instructions.

In this series of seven classes students will create six projects which include two bracelets, a ring , a charm, and two three dimensional projects which can be used for ear rings, rings, charms, necklace baubles, the start of a ladybug bracelet bracelet and more. Some of the techniques and stitches used in class include three-bead peyote, brick stitch, netting/lattice weave, 3D flowers , tube weaving and others.

The cost for all seven classes, which includes supplies to make all six projects, will be $15 (the cost of the materials). Students must be at least 10 years old. All students under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The classes will be limited in size.

Daytime classes will be from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on the second and fourth Mondays, except on holidays, starting Sept. 24. And, due to popular demand ,a second set of classes will be held on the first Thursday evening of the month from 7:30-9 p.m. beginning Sept 6.

For information on signing up for either of these series of classes, please contact Heritage House Arts & Civic Center via e-mail to cholley@chattanooga.gov  or by calling the office at 423 855-9474.

Officials said, "We expect the classes to be filled quickly, so sign up soon. Space is limited. A special preview of both the bead weaving class and the balloon sculpture class will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, during the monthly Make Create Night at Heritage House. Feel free to drop in and see some of the projects and color choices for the bracelets."
