Wolftever Creek Elementary And Collegedale Police Celebrate Walk To School Day

  • Thursday, October 24, 2019

Officers from the Collegedale Police Department partnered with Wolftever Creek Elementary School for Walk to School Day Thursday to promote safe routes to school, encourage healthy activities, and strengthen community relationships.

The Walk to School Day event raises awareness of the need to create safe routes for walking and bicycling and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, and creating connections between families, schools, and the broader community.  The school children were supported by Collegedale Police Bike Patrol division, adding an opportunity for students to interact with hometown heroes.

“Walk to School Day is a great event for Collegedale officers to interact with the students and start the day off with a healthy, fun activity,” said Robert O’Daniel, Bike Patrol officer for Collegedale Police Department. “In addition to keeping the children safe during their walk, this event gives us the opportunity to have a greater presence in our community and for the children to meet the officers.”

Parents, teachers, Collegedale Police Department, and students participated in Wolftever Creek Elementary’s Walk to School Day event.  For more information on Walk to School Day, visit walkbiketoschool.org.
