Tara Van Hooser-Prater
An investigation by special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the indictment and arrest of a state probation officer who allegedly was engaging in a physical relationship with a client.
At the request of 12th District Attorney General J. Michael Taylor, on July 24 TBI agents began investigating Tara Van Hooser-Prater, 38, a state probation officer.
During the course of the investigation, agents developed information that indicated that from May through July, Ms. Van Hooser-Prater had engaged in a physical relationship with a probationer who was on active probation in Grundy County.
On Tuesday, the Grundy County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Ms. Van Hooser-Prater with two counts of official misconduct.
Ms. Van Hooser-Prater, who is from Altamont, was arrested on Wednesday and booked into the Grundy County Jail on a $7,500 bond.
