Hale Carmack "Mack" Holland
Former Signal Mountain resident Hale Carmack "Mack" Holland passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at his home in Franklin, Tn.
Mr. Holland was born on June 21, 1931. He graduated from The McCallie School in 1949 and the University of Chattanooga in 1951. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He served in the United States Army as a second lieutenant and as a captain in the Tennessee National Guard.
He worked for Olan Mills Inc. for 17 years as director of Manufacturing and later as senior vice president. Before this, he worked for Cutter Laboratories for 25 years. While at Cutter Laboratories, he held many positions. He was the industrial engineer at the Cutter Chattanooga plant and then Chief Engineer in Berkley, CA. He became the manager of the Ogden, Utah plant and then director of Manufacturing in Berkeley, CA. He also served as director of Manufacturing and plant manager in Chattanooga, and held this position until the Cutter plant in Chattanooga, closed.
He was an avid woodworker and model train railroader. He had a large layout in his Signal Mountain home.
He was a member of First Centenary United Methodist Church. He served as both president of the Morgan Class and Inner City and Finance Committee. After moving to Franklin, TN he became a member of The Church at West Franklin.
His parents, Hale and Katherine C. Holland and daughter, Amy H. Romeo precede him in death.
Mr. Holland leaves behind his beloved wife, Trina C. Holland of Franklin, TN. His daughter, Angela H. Mills (Tim) of Franklin, TN, and sister, Katherine V. Holland of Chattanooga, TN. His grandchildren, Ashley Mills of Franklin, TN, and Kate Romeo and Tee Romeo of Charlotte, NC.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, with a memorial service at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend John Rush officiating.
