Dathan Rice
A Chattanooga man with an extensive criminal record has been sentenced to serve 92 months in federal prison.
Dathan Day Rice, 31, appeared before Judge Sandy Mattice on Monday afternoon.
Rice's record includes an arrest for robbery in 2014.
In the federal case he pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
On Oct. 29, 2018, two Chattanooga Police officers saw Rice walking in the 1200 block of Grove Street. They called out to him by his nickname of "Dae Dae."
Police said Rice crouched down by a vehicle before talking to them. A .380 Cobra firearm was later found where he had crouched.
Police said Rice admitted having the gun for several months. It was stolen out of South Carolina.
Rice also admitted having a two gram crack rock in his underwear.
The interaction with Rice was caught on video.
