Shirley Heard
Shirley Veella Holt Heard, 80, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, in the Hospice Care Center.
She retired from Life Care of Chattanooga after many years of service. She was a member of Rock Island Baptist Church.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy Lewis and Mary Frances Holt; husband, John Nelvin Heard; brother, Robert L. Holt; sister, Norma “Jean” Ball, and Chip.
Survivors include daughters, Linda Fay Holt-McMurray of Chattanooga and Sharon D. (Darrell) McGill of Atlanta, GA; goddaughters, Belinda Cook and Diane Williams, both of Chattanooga; devoted grandchildren, Remeca (Lewis) Harris, LaWuana Adams, Renus Evans, III, and four other grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; devoted brother, Alfonzo “Moe” Simpson of Chattanooga; devoted sister, Linda Allen of Chattanooga; a host of other brothers; sisters; devoted friend, Wilma Elsberry, Mrs. Sims, Eva Smith, Carolyn Mayes, Mrs. Henderson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She will lie in state on Monday, Aug. 19, after 12:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Ronald Cook, Sr. as the eulogist. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
