Mere hours before a board meeting, it was announced that Erlanger Health System CEO Kevin Spiegel has resigned.
In the position since April 2013, it has been rumored for days that changes were upcoming for the CEO.
In cancelling Wednesday night’s specially-called board meeting, Mike Griffin, chairman of the board of trustees at Erlanger Health System announced Wednesday that Kevin M.
Spiegel FACHE, president and CEO of Erlanger, has separated from the organization, effective immediately. “On behalf of the board, we wish Kevin, his wife Judy and family all the best as they begin a new chapter of their lives,” he said.
Mr. Griffin said the board plans to select a successor to Mr. Spiegel at Erlanger’s regularly-scheduled board meeting on Sept. 26. In the interim, he said the board will continue to work closely with Erlanger leadership on matters pertaining to the health system.
The board chairman also assured Erlanger’s workforce, medical staff and surrounding communities there will be no disruption in business or service during this transition period. “There is no question Erlanger’s staff and physicians will continue to provide exceptional care to their patients and the many communities they serve,” Mr. Griffin said.
