Susan Marie Phillips, 76, of Ooltewah, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2019. 

A native of Somerset, Ohio, she has been a resident of Oak Ridge, Tn. and Cincinnati, Ohio before moving to Ooltewah nine years ago.  She was a member of Ooltewah United Methodist Church where she enjoyed her Women’s Bible Study Group.  She also enjoyed being a volunteer with Hospice and volunteering with her grandchildren’s school.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gail Thomas Phillips.

Survivors include her son, Joseph (Carol) Phillips, Bristow, Va.; daughter Sally (Todd) Trent, Ooltewah; and three grandchildren, Camryn Phillips, Molly Trent and JT Trent.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at  lls.org

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Ooltewah United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dwight Kilbourne officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. on Tuesday at the church before the service.

Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, Valley View Chapel, 7414 Old Lee Highway.

Georgia Coronavirus Deaths Now At 79, Total Cases Is 2,446

Georgia state health officials said Saturday that 79 people in the state have died of the coronavirus. That total is up from 38 on Tuesday. The cases have climbed to 2,446 - up from 1,387 on Wednesday with a rapid spread around the Atlanta area. The Tuesday report showed 1,026 cases. It was at 800 on Monday.
