A convicted felon who has had numerous brushes with the law has been arrested after his girlfriend said he hit her multiple times and tried to drag her down some steps in an incident on Jan. 3.

New charges against Dieshunn Lindsey (Taylor), 33, are aggravated domestic assault, carjacking, aggravated kidnapping and evading arrest.

The girlfriend said he took her at knife point to her maroon Kia Otpima and drove away with her inside. She said she continued to demand money from her before letting her out at a residence. He then drove away.

Police said the woman had bruises and lacerations on the left side of her face as well as a swollen and bloodshot left eye.

Police were then dispatched to 2125 E. 25th St., on a report of several people with guns and a maroon Kia Optima. The girlfriend said Lindsey had called and said the car would be left at. She said when she arrived there were several people there with guns.

Police said Lindsey was spotted at an apartment across the street. But he was able to get away. He was taken into custody on Wednesday when an officer spotted him in front of a store on 4th Avenue.

In an incident in October, Lindsey was found with a loaded gun and marijuana during a traffic stop.

Police pulled a car over after they smelled marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Police asked each of the three passengers to identify themselves.

One of the passengers identified himself as Dieshunn Taylor (later revealed to be Dieshunn Lindsey), 33, who then spelled his name for the police, as he did not have his ID on him. When the background check did not bring up his information, the officer asked Lindsey to spell his name again. This time, Taylor told police his name was “Detrell Taylor.”

When Lindsey was asked to exit the vehicle, police said he tried to run away. After he was caught and detained, officers located a fanny pack on Lindsey’s person. It contained a loaded gun and a small amount of marijuana. According to the police report, Lindsey yelled “that everything inside the vehicle is mine.” The gun was later revealed to be stolen property from Bradley County.

After being transported to the Hamilton County Jail, “Taylor” was identified as Dieshunn Lindsey, and was found to have a felony conviction for kidnapping, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and evading arrest.

Lindsey in that case was charged with theft of property, resisting arrest or obstruction of justice, felon in possession of a firearm, and simple possession of marijuana.
