Betty June Avans Dickerson, 89,  of Soddy Daisy went home to be with her Savior Friday, October 9, 2020. 

 

She was born on Oct. 23, 1930, in Chattanooga to the late Charles Cate and Alta Mae Avans.

 

She was a member of Mile Straight Baptist Church. She was a faithful choir member at a former church where she also worked in the Children’s Department. 

 

She retired from Unum Insurance Company after 55 years of service. 

 

Her hobbies included cooking, working with crafts and her flowers.  She dearly loved her family and her church. 

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Dickerson; daughter-in-law, Lisa Dickerson; mother and father-in-law, Emma Dell and Dallas Wright; and several brothers and sisters. 

 

Survivors include her son, Tim (Linda) Dickerson of Soddy Daisy, TN; granddaughters, Christina (Jerry) Priessnitz of Soddy Daisy, TN; Paige (Ben) Southerland of Morristown, TN; Melissa Boyd of Chattanooga; six great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Baker of Pine Mountain, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends Monday, October 12, 2020 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. 

 

Funeral services will Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at the North Chapel.

 

Due to COVID-19 all social distancing guidelines set in place by the CDC must be followed.  In addition, Hamilton County requires face coverings for anyone attending visitation and services.  

 

Interment will be at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. 

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Mile Straight Baptist Church, 8448 Springfield Rd, Soddy Daisy, TN  37379. 

 

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 5401 Hwy. 153, Hixson, TN  37343.
