Mary Stephens Wilcox, 90, of Chattanooga, died on October 25, 2020. 

 

Mary was born on October 12, 1930, the daughter of the late Dexter G. and Loretta (Fritts) Stephens.  Mary attended Johnson County High School and later graduated with an AS degree as an LPN.  Mary was employed by Tepper Clinic, a children’s hospital where she was a revered and caring health care provider.  Mary will be remembered as a compassionate friend and caregiver to many of her friends and family after her retirement. 

 

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of over 68 years, Wade W. Wilcox; son, Christopher Wilcox; sister, Carolyn (Rex) Stout; brothers, Bruce (Shirley) Stephens and Ernest (Mamie) Stephens. 

 

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Wilcox (Michael) Hurley; grandchildren, Wade Hurley and Megan Hurley as well as a host of extended family and friends. 

 

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Lane Funeral Home. 

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home officiated by Reverend Bill Harvey. 

 

Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mary S. Wilcox to Red Bank Baptist Church.
