Morning Pointe Foundation Presents Virtual Seminar On Senior Fall Prevention

  • Friday, November 13, 2020

The Morning Pointe Foundation and the Weston Group, a regional therapy partner, will present “Don’t React, Adapt!”, a virtual Caregiver Café seminar about preventing falls in senior adults. The program will be a free, registration-only event held online on Thursday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.

To register, go to www.morningpointe.com/caregivercafe.

Caregiver Café is an ongoing educational seminar series that connects experts on senior living and care with those experiencing the physical and mental effects of aging.

Led by licensed occupational therapists Hannah Doyle, OTR/L and Haley Gros, OTR/L, the seminar will discuss environmental modifications to reduce falls, adaptive equipment to maximize independence and strategies to improve quality of life in seniors. "They are both experienced occupational therapists who are passionate about giving seniors the tools they need to remain healthy and independent as they continue to age," officials said.

“Words cannot express the love I have for the geriatric population. Being able to care for them—
and especially being able to be a friend to them—has been something that has been as beneficial
for me as it has been for the seniors,” said Ms. Gros. “My job as an occupational therapist challenges me to be creative to help each of my patients reach their individual goals. I would not trade my job for anything in the world.”

“The Morning Pointe Foundation is excited to be partnering with the Weston Group for our latest
Caregiver Café virtual seminar. Weston occupational therapists, like Hannah and Haley, are
absolutely top-notch when it comes to training and experience, and we are looking forward to
sharing their expertise with seniors and senior caregivers who will really benefit from this
information,” said Audra Hopkins, the executive director of the Morning Pointe Foundation.
