Conroy Judson Ryan, Sr., 94, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020. 

He was a member of Rossville First Baptist Church.  He was ordained as a deacon in 1953 at Ascalon Baptist Church in Rising Fawn, Ga.  Mr. Ryan was a graduate of Central High School class of 1944.   He was a veteran of the United States Army serving as a Classification Specialist.  Mr. Ryan furthered his education at the University of Chattanooga where he earned a BS in Elementary Education in 1960 and earned his Master of Education degree from the University of Georgia in 1976.  He was also certified by the State of Tennessee Department of Education with a Master’s Degree in Electrical Appliances.  He was a member of Iota Lambda Sigma Fraternity, the Georgia Vocational Association and the American Vocational Association.  He began his teaching career in the Walker County School System in 1955 teaching at several schools including Rossville High School, Chattanooga Valley High School and Chattanooga Valley Elementary School.  He retired from teaching in 1982. 

Mr. Ryan was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Ryan and a grandson, Nathan Sartin.

Survivors include his daughter, Donna (Terry) Sartin; son, Conroy Judson (Sandra) Ryan, Jr.; seven grandchildren, Brooke (John) Emmert, Rachel Ryan, Sarah (Issac) Brooks, Melissa (Donnie) Pell, Nick Sartin, Ben (Riley) Sartin and Jake Sartin; 13 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with the Reverend Paul Williams officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. on Friday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, Tn. 37412.
