C. Ray Mahan left his earthly home for his heavenly home on Saturday, Nov 21, 2020. He was 94 years old.
Ray was a member of White Oak Baptist Church for 58 years. He served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He had a passion for Bible study and felt honored when teaching Sunday School classes.
After teaching school for a few years, he went to work for Provident Life Insurance Company. He retired from there after 37 years of service.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Bonnie of almost 73 years; a son, Keith (Nina) Mahan; daughter, Malinda (David) Barger; granddaughter, Allyson (Matt) Kilgore; grandsons, Paul (Shaleia) Barger, Philip (Melissa) Barger, Patrick (Leah) Mahan and five great grandsons.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov. 24, from 10:30 a.m.–12 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson. The funeral service will be in the funeral home chapel at 12 p.m. on Tuesday with interment following at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. All CDC Covid-19 regulations, including masks and social distancing, must be adhered to both at the funeral home and the cemetery
