The HCS Hero video today features Lynn Swingle, an education teacher at Hamilton County Virtual School.
Mrs. Swingle has taught for 30 years and 28 of those years have been in Hamilton County Schools.
:Heroes are not always people who do spectacular deeds, but are often merely everyday individuals who determine to take an opportunity to act and make a difference," officials said. "Mrs. Swingle is a special person choosing to make a difference."
Hamilton County Schools honored her with an I Am Hamilton shirt and recognized Swingle as an HCS Hero.
"The Virtual School is where students can complete the curriculum at their own pace," said Mrs.
Swingle. "We use the same curriculum as regular schools, but have more flexibility for students to complete tasks on their pace at a time that works for them, and the work is done at home."
“She has so much patience and you can feel the love she has for children,” said Annery Pino, parent of a Virtual School student. “She has tremendous patience with the children.”
"I started teaching because I love children," said Mrs. Swingle. "I see it as a ministry to work with kids who do not learn the same way as others."
