Nancy McFarland
Nancy Irene McFarland, 87, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, died peacefully at home on December 20, 2020, in the care of her family after battling atypical Parkinsonism for several years.
Known affectionately as “Nanny” to her family and friends, she was born in Cloquet, Minnesota on May 26, 1933 to Walter and Irene Peterson. She lived most of her life in Texas but moved to Signal Mountain two years ago. In Texas, she had worked as a secretary in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University. Nanny was an avid reader who loved to bake cookies, needlepoint, and travel; however, what brought her great happiness was being with her family, whom she cherished and adored until the day she died. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Being an interesting, kind, compassionate, and caring person, Nanny had many friends – to know her was to love her.
Nanny was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Virginia Peterson McPhail.
She is survived by her husband, Andrew McFarland of Signal Mountain; her daughter Sandra Lusk and husband Bill of Signal Mountain; her son Kyle Andrew McFarland and his wife Monica of Houston; and, by grandchildren W. Kyle Lusk of Signal Mountain, and Ashley McFarland Johnson, Madeline Nicole McFarland, and Spencer Kyle McFarland, all of Houston.
Her family expresses its appreciation for the outstanding medical help she was given in Houston by MD Anderson Cancer Center (Dr. Margie Rosales), Houston Cardiovascular Associates (Dr. Oscar Rosales), and Baylor College of Medicine (Dr. Steven Bellows); and, for the loving care provided to her in Signal Mountain by Hospice (Praparat Mon) and by her friend Glennise Butler of Chattanooga.
Her family desires that any memorial contributions be made to the provider’s charity of choice.
Due to COVID concerns there will be no funeral.
Arrangements are entrusted to Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415, 423 877-3524, www.lanefh.com.
