Michael George Gilbert, 63, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2020.
He was born in Chattanooga, on June 4, 1957, to Ray Gilbert and the late Carolyn Ann Gilbert. He fought a long battle with kidney disease. He held a degree in Electronics/Computer Technology from Electronic Computer Programming College. Mike had a zest for life and an entrepreneurial spirit. He enjoyed restoring his 1979 Chevrolet El Camino, playing cards, camping, and four-wheeling back in the day. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the USS James Monroe Submarine 622 Blue Crew. He was captain of the Rack Pack APA Pool League Team. Mike owned and operated Pro Service Lawn Care. He was also a truck driver manager training other drivers, and he won safety awards.
Mike is survived by his wife, Kimberly Gilbert; sons, Damon Gilbert and Michael Ryan Gilbert; father, Ray Gilbert; brother, Barry (Lisa) Gilbert; sisters, Carol (Tony) Chafin, Melissa (Tim) Gilliland; mother-in-law, Betty Siniard; and aunt, Pam Humphrey; other relatives and dear friends. Michael is loved and will be greatly missed.
Special thanks to Dr. Richard Moody, the CKC Dialysis Clinic Chattanooga Missionary Ridge, and the many other doctors, nurses, and medical staff who cared for Mike.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 1:45 p.m. in the Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services-Franklin-Strickland Chapel.
Interment with military honors will immediately follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2:30pm.
