Mattie Jean Bostic Norton, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 9, 2020.

Her sweet spirit and kind heart will be missed by her family and friends.  She was a Christian and faithful member of South Seminole Baptist Church for over 60 years.  Mattie graduated from Meigs County High School and attended Tennessee Weslyn College where she loved being on the basketball teams. She grew up in Ten Mile, Tn. with a basketball in her hands.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Norton; parents, Ernest and Bonnie Bostic; and brother, Charles Bostic.  

Left behind to cherish Mattie’s memory are her children, Teresa (Herb) Gravitt, Jasper, Tn., and Stan (Denise) Norton, Augusta, Ga.; grandchildren, Jennifer (Skip) Pond, Lindsey (Clif) Merritt, and Mack Norton; great-grandchildren, Reese Pond and Ellie Pond; brother, Penny (Susie) Bostic; and many dear family and friends. 

A celebration of Mattie’s life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Mattie will be laid to rest with her husband in the Lakewood Memory Gardens South. 

The family would like to offer a special thanks to her caregivers, Katy Hamby and Corey Bauldwin. 

Also in lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions in honor of Mattie Norton to be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 6005 Century Oaks Dr #500, Chattanooga, TN 37416. 

Arrangements are under the care of Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist East Chapel, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, TN 37412.
